I rode the VTA train from Mountain View to the hotel on Thursday evening. It stops less than a block from the Doubletree so that was rather convenient. I did some drawing on the train. VTA is almost as smooth as Caltrain but not quite. A heck of a lot smoother than a bus though. :)

Once I got there, I wandered around for a bit and said hi to a few people, then sat down and worked on the Godzilla project that I still wasn't finished with. I think Stacey and I went home around 2AMish.

I'd planned to go early Friday morning but Stacey wasn't feeling well so I dawdled around waiting for her until about 11:30, by which time Avona and Ashtoreth were up. Stacey still wasn't feeling well and told me to go without her. So I did, picking up Avona and Ashy along the way. I took about 100 glowsticks with me. I missed the SL panel but Cube told me it was no big loss. I hung out in Seg and Kate's room for a bit and got very drunk on the bad liquor I'd brought. Then I wandered around for a while before sitting down in the hall and working on the stupid godzilla video until around 4AM (when I finally finished)

A lot of friends sat with me and hung out and I gave them all of my glowsticks and we covered ourselves with them. Yay glowsticks! :)

Saturday I actually got to do... stuff! I went to a couple of panels and drank a little then I danced for a long time and gave away the other 300 of my glowsticks to people at the dance. All in all, it wasn't enough. I think I needed probably a thousand glowsticks to REALLY light the place up. Next time perhaps. Still It was good and the music was actually dance music instead of the 80's music they'd played in the past so I had a good time.

Sunday I slept in a bit later but went to more panels and visited more people and danced more. Later in the evening I went with a group of friends to Ethiopian food and made it back just in time to catch about 15 minutes of the Taiko drumming that was on mainstage before FNL. It was fantastic!

It was followed by the premiere of the Godzilla film I'd worked on (which was rough. No way I could really follow the drumming and look good) but the crowd received it pretty well. After that, there was another film done by about 20 people. Gah. I think it looked better but I think mine was more fun. Then FNL started and the quality really dropped on the floor. :) So I scooted off and found some friends. Julia picked up Stacey and a bunch of my party decorations and we set up a dance party in Julia's room. There was one group of guys that came through who really annoyed me but on the whole it was pretty good.

We danced at Julia's party for a while, then went and watched a group called 'TentacleCraft' singing about Cthulu and finally ended the night in a small chill party where I spent the entire night chatting with friends and drawing and stuff. Very good time.

On the whole, I hug and cuddled and kissed a lot of people but didn't do anything more. I was far more social that I've been at past conventions and as a result, I had a really good time. What a concept. :)

The convention also seems to be attracting more and more young raver types which I find greatly preferable to the old whiny fanboys.
